2024 Ford Ranger Towing Capacity

2024 Ford Ranger driving in the mountains

Choosing a midsize pickup instead of a full-size model doesn’t have to feel like a compromise. Midsize trucks are more efficient and more maneuverable, and that makes them perfect for shoppers who need to commute through (or park on) busy city streets. Plus, the 2024 Ford Ranger towing capacity is more than sufficient for the needs of most drivers in the Edwardsville area.

With the ability to tow up to 7,500 pounds when properly equipped, the latest Ford Ranger can easily handle the vast majority of common towing tasks. Whether you need to move a camper, a fishing boat, or a trailer loaded down with outdoor toys, you can count on the Ranger to get the job done right.

Ford Ranger Towing & Payload Capacities by Configuration

You can reach the maximum Ford Ranger towing capacity with almost any configuration in the lineup. In fact, the only trim that doesn’t max out at 7,500 pounds is the off-road-focused 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor.

For easy reference, we’ve listed out the maximum towing and payload capacities for each trim level:

Ford Ranger Engine Specs & Details

Although the optional 2.7L EcoBoost® engine won’t be available until some time after the official launch, interested shoppers will still want to explore all three options before they place an order. Here’s what you should know about this year’s selection of Ford Ranger powertrains:

2.3L EcoBoost®

  • 270 horsepower
  • 310 lb-ft of torque

2.7L EcoBoost®

  • 315 horsepower (Est.)
  • 400 lb-ft of torque (Est.)

3.0L EcoBoost®

  • 405 horsepower
  • 430 lb-ft of torque

What’s Included with the Ranger Tow Package?

The Trailer Tow Package is standard on Raptor models and optional on all other configurations—and you’ll need to make sure it’s equipped if you want to reach the maximum 2024 Ford Ranger towing capacity. It includes a 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness and a Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver.

If you plan to do a lot of heavy lifting in St. Louis or Collinsville, then it’s a good idea to upgrade to the XLT (4×2 or 4×4) or the Lariat (4×2). These models are available with the Advanced Towing Package, which nets you a Trailer Brake Controller and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
