Introducing Ford Model e™

For over a century the Ford Motor Company has been at the forefront of automotive technology, developing new ways to drive that make life easier, safer, and more affordable for drivers in St. Louis and beyond. Most recently those changes have involved the introduction of electric vehicles like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, with more EVs on the way. To more efficiently serve EV and combustible engine fans alike, Ford is introducing two new branches of their business. Ford Blue™ is the new umbrella for the gasoline-powered vehicles that have been the base of Ford since the beginning. But what is Ford Model e™? While Ford Model e™ might sounds like a new vehicle, it’s actually a new branch of the Ford Motor Company that oversees EVs and hybrid vehicles. Learn more about this exciting new path with Weber Ford.

What is Ford Model e™?

Collinsville drivers will come to know Ford Model e™ as the forefront of American electric and hybrid vehicles. From developing new EVs to suit the majority of Edwardsville drivers, to continued improvements of EV technology, Ford Model e™ aims to lead the way. What does this mean? Here’s what you can expect from Ford Model e™:

  • Distinctive, industry-leading EVs
  • The urgency and speed of a start-up so EVs are created and available for purchase quickly
  • Accelerated innovation for EVs and connected vehicle technologies and services throughout the Ford lineup

All of this is designed to put Granite City drivers behind the wheels of the electric vehicles they want, faster than ever, with a company dedicated solely to the EV market while still sharing its developments with the rest of Ford.

What is Ford Blue™

You don’t have to say goodbye to your internal combustion engine (ICE) just yet if you don’t want to! Ford Blue™ will continue manufacturing and improving the ICE vehicles that have been the bedrock of the company since 1903.

Ford Model e’s EV Investments

As a new branch of Ford, what will be the focus of Ford Model e™? The company is already investing in what it needs to make the best electric vehicles available. These investments include:

  • Hiring the best software, engineering, design and UX talent
  • A clean-sheet approach to designing, launching and scaling breakthrough, high-volume electric and connected products and services
  • Developing and improving key EV technologies like batteries, e-motors, inverters, and chargers
  • Creating the software platforms and fully networked vehicle architectures to support always-on and ever-improving vehicles

To do this, Ford broke ground in September, 2022, on their first new production facility in over 50 years, located in western Tennessee. Named BlueOval City, it’s the largest Ford production facility ever built, and it’ll focus exclusively on EVs and batteries. By 2025 BlueOval City will employ over 6,000 workers. Two battery factories being built in Kentucky and will employ another 5,000 people.
