Proper maintenance is imperative to ensuring the health of your vehicle, and one of the most important services is your routine Ford oil change. How often should you change your oil? With recent improvements in oil formulation and additives, such as full synthetic oil and semi-synthetic blends, Granite City drivers can enjoy much longer oil change frequencies. Many new Ford models have a recommended oil change frequency between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. Recommended Oil Change Frequency 

How often should you change your oil? Some cars have a higher oil change frequency than others and vice versa, but the general rule is to change your oil every 7,500-10,000 miles. If your drives around St. Louis or Collinsville regularly include any of the types of driving listed below, you need to adjust your Ford oil change frequencies accordingly:

  • Off-roading
  • Commercial use
  • Racing
  • Heavy towing

  • Check your owner’s manual to see if you should use synthetic or conventional oil in your car. Synthetic oil costs more but lasts longer.
  • Oil eventually breaks down, even when the car isn’t driven consistently. If you don’t drive often, you should still change your oil at least twice per year.
  • Make sure you change your oil filter whenever you change your oil. Our parts center can assist you in getting the right oil filter for your Ford.

How Often Should You Check Your Oil Level?

Check your oil level at least once a month to avoid problems when you’re out and about on Edwardsville streets. Things like changes in your oil’s color and texture can be a sign of serious problems.
